Renewable Renovation Ideas

When my wife and I decided to renovate our house, one of the main things we were concerned about was making it more environmentally friendly. We had both grown up in typical Australian families and were used to blasting the heat in winter and the air conditioning in summer, and using the television pretty much constantly every weekend and evening after work. It was just the way things were done. But we have recently learned a lot about how important it is to make the switch to clean energy and thanks to technology like 30kW solar systems, it’s now a possibility.

We now know that solar power is often more affordable than the regular electricity grid, and it’s also better for the environment. Once we started talking about solar panels, we started seeing them everywhere. It seemed like every house we passed had solar panels, or was getting them installed. We even visited a couple of showrooms where we got to see all the different types of energy-saving LED lighting available in residential buildings.

I was particularly interested in how businesses can install commercial LED lighting for their own business spaces, since I have a business of my own and I think it would be beneficial to convert everything to cleaner and more renewable energy. In the meantime, though, there are some things my wife and I are doing to save some additional money for the renovations, like cutting down the time that we spend in the shower and not turning the heater on as much during winter. These may seem like small things, but they add up over time.

When we eventually do get around to both starting and finishing the renovation, we’re going to buy lots of new furniture. I’ve managed to convince my wife to buy second-hand furniture. I even offered to fix it up myself! I can’t wait to tell all of our friends about our upcoming renovation and how they can save money with solar power panels.
